NEW PICTURES POSTED!!!!!

I have new pictures posted including a smoky Dawson City, Tombstone Park as well as the toe from the Sourtoe Cocktail.
My solo tour has started and the group is great. We are all getting along very well and I am happy to once again have a good group to tour with. We are on out second day in Denali now, 4 days into the trip. We head to Valdez the day after tomorrow and then into McCarthy. I am trying to fight off a cold right now wich really blows donkeys. Always tired with no energy and I cant sleep well at night because of a nagging cough. Hope to feel better in a couple of days at the latest. It is a little cloudy today and we had rain last night. But still really warm. Spent the day today saying hi to the tour operators and trying to bum a glacier flight off Denali Air. Unfortunately the flight I wanted to go on was full and the once they offered me instead would make me late for picking my group up from their bus tour. So I ended up having a lazy day today. Hope you like my pix and hope to talk to some of you soon.
Cheers,
Dave

Anchorage- Tour arrives in hours....

Made the long drive from Whitehorse to Anchorage. I like it here. Its a nice city. The hotel is a little ghetto but at least it has a bathtub and a shower that is not on a timer. I thought I broke my digital camera the other night when I climbed on top of the van to take a picture of the sunset. It fell off the roof- denting the aluminum body of the camera and scratching the lens a bit. But it's still working! Woohoo!
Almost forgot... In Dawson at Diamond Tooth, I was called onto the stage with 4 other guys. Had a little bit of a dance competition with the others using one of the "Gold Rush Girls" as my dance partners. I won and got to take my partner's garter. Of course it helps when you have your tour at the bottom of the stage cheering for you.
Well... lots to do before I sleep- wash the van....shop...sightsee...oil change...trip accounts...laundry...call home............

On my Own

So Brian started his new tour at 8am and the group left this afternoon. I now have to drive to Anchorage to start my tour on Wed. The last few days were great. I went to the Show at Diamond Tooth Gerties both nights we were in Dawson City. I love live theatre. It was great. Turns out Gertie graduated 2 years ahead of me from Belmont and still lives in Metchosin and works as a teacher in Sooke during the off season here. I had the "Authentic Sour Tooth Coctail" at the Downtown Hotel in Dawson as well- have the certificate to prove it.
The story goes that during prohibition in the winter, some rumrunners were being chased by the cops. One fell into a river with his foot but not having time to stop to dry his foot off, ended up loosing the toe. His buddy amputated it in the privacy of their secluded cabin under an alcohol anesthetic. They placed the severed part in the whiskey jug and left it at the cabin. 40 years later, the new owner of the cabin discovered the toe and for some reason decided to serve it in drinks- "Drink it fast or drink is slow, as long as your lips touch the toe." So I am now a card-carrying member. Gross huh?

Anyway... Ive gotto run and start my trip to the BIG Alaska smoke.
Cheers
